Overcoming Fear

“”Before I had the opportunity to work with Shelly, fear consumed me and was very suffocating.  Fear kept me isolated from enjoying life and trying new things.  Since I have been working with Shelly, I now am able to use the tools that Shelly has taught me so that fear doesn’t control me.  I now have the opportunity to choose if I will walk in fear or in freedom.  I am much more confident!” – Client, T.O.

Fear is any belief that keeps you from living out your true self.

Fear’s job is to keep you in your comfort zone and stop you from taking any risk where you could experience a negative result.   The problem with letting fear make your decisions, is that you may never experience living large and outside of the box.  Fear keeps you from living passionately, discovering new interests, opening up to love, and to growing confidence in yourself and your decisions. Fear keeps everything the same.  Fear is the comfort zone where everything is predicable…and always the same.

Fear keeps you safe.  But how satisfying is safe?

Fear is based on

  • The unknown
  • False perceptions
  • Attacks on self-esteem
  • Unrealistic expectations
  • Old patterns of thinking

Fear is behind all kinds of emotions, some of which are:

  • Disappointment
  • Anger
  • Jealousy
  • Confusion
  • Dissatisfaction
  • Overwhelm
  • Helplessness
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Shame
  • Irritated

Fear causes us to:

  • Hide out
  • Overwork
  • Blame others
  • Complain
  • Procrastinate
  • Judge
  • Compare
  • Worry
  • Become aggressive or indirect
  • Criticize
  • Control

Fear controls our lives when:

  • We say YES when we mean NO
  • We are hesitant to ask for the promotion we have earned
  • We are afraid to open ourselves to love
  • We convince ourselves otherwise and settle for less
  • We are more afraid of what people think than following our intuition
  • We allow outside influences to dictate our path
  • We give up dreams because we feel uncertain about the outcome

Overcoming Fear Requires:

  • Awareness of the belief systems that are keeping  you stuck
  • Honesty to come face to face with your limiting beliefs
  • Tools to outsmart fear when making future decisions
  • Support to help you follow through on decisions to leave your comfort zone.
  • Learning how to completely trust yourself
  • Building confidence that you can manage the unknowns
