I am with you. I too have battled emotional eating for years. The discussions and tools we will share in your coaching sessions work! I know the focus it takes to turn around a life long habit, and I know how to keep you on track.  Weight loss is a non-linear path.  It requires the right support to cross the finish line.  I know what it takes!

Emotional Eating

Emotional eaters believe the same thoughts that got them fat will get them thin. Thoughts about diet and exercise plague emotional eaters because they are caught in the cycle of failure over and over. Emotional eaters are actually very disciplined people. They just lack the certainty of WHY they should be committed because the years of failure have only bred doubt that they will ever be finished with the battle of being over-weight.

Help with Weight Loss

Emotional eaters must change their thoughts in order to change their body. Emotional eaters must define their emotional motivators and develop healthy strategies for altering their moods instead of using food as their drug of choice. Needs and emotions are powerful forces that require honoring. However, emotional eaters must learn to use logic while balancing their emotional needs without numbing out with food.

For instance, when you make a commitment to begin exercising, and the time comes and you don’t feel like it, it is important to figure out what commitment is stronger than your commitment to fitness in that moment. Learning what you are unconsciously thinking in that exact moment is essential in getting yourself back on track.

How to Stop Emotional Eating

Some of the common work in overcoming emotional eating requires:

  • Adjusting your thoughts that happiness does not come from the pleasure of eating
  • Clarity that your weight is not the problem you are fixing
  • Shifting to faith in yourself and off of your diet
  • Developing new beliefs about time, money and energy to support your journey towards fitness
  • Giving up the beliefs that you will always be this way
  • Becoming mentally tough for the long haul and giving up short term fixes
  • Loving yourself for who you are today

Weight Loss Coaching

The only way to end emotional eating for good is by changing the way you THINK. There is no magic pill or quick fix. There is no diet or exercise plan that will keep the weight off if you don’t fix your belief system underneath. Breaking the habit of emotional eating takes real focus. Shelly’s clients find success because she knows how and when to lead you into new thoughts and actions that will bring you the freedom you long for.
