| Frequently Asked Questions: Life Coaching |
How do I pick a coach?
Most coaches offer a free consultation to see if you have a good fit.
To get the most from your time, bring a specific challenge you are facing
and ask the coach to give you a sample of their coaching. After the call
ask yourself:
- Did the coach listen and understand me?
- How was the energy on the call?
- Do I feel inspired by this coach’s approach?
- In what ways did I find a new angle of dealing with my situation?
- Did I feel a warm rapport and connection with this coach?

How do group telephone group calls work?
Telephone Group calls are easy. Simply call into the conference
line and enter the access code when prompted. You will be asked to
introduce yourself. If you enter a call late, please wait until
are in the flow of the call to identify that you are with us.
If you have background noise in your environment, press the ‘6’ key
at any time to be placed on mute. Press the ‘6’ key again to
un-mute when you want to begin talking. You will be invited to participate in the
topic of discussion. At the end of the call, feel
free to say good-bye and hang up.

What do I look for in a coach?
Coaches come in all shapes and sizes. During your initial
interview, you may want to ask about their coaching experience
and their background before becoming a coach. It is not necessary
for your coach to have experienced exactly your same situation,
but sometimes it helps. You may want to ask about the coach’s
philosophy of coaching and if they are a member of the International
Coaching Federation (ICF), which is the recognized umbrella
organization for professional coaching. The ICF provides
accountability for ethical and competency standards for
participating certified professional coaches.

| “Before I had the opportunity to
work with Shelly, fear consumed me and was very suffocating. Fear kept me isolated
from enjoying life and trying new things. Since I have been working with Shelly,
I now am able to use the tools that Shelly has taught me so that fear doesn't
control me. I am much more confident about my choices!”
